The Progress Pride Flag

Based on the Progress Pride Flag, which is modelled on the Philadelphia Pride Flag to be a more inclusive and symbolic flag. It now includes the trans flag stripes as well as the black and brown that represent marginalized people of colour. There’s also a dual meaning to the black stripe, which honors those lost to HIV/AIDS and acknowledges the struggles of those still living with HIV and changing the stigma surrounding it.

Note: There are many variations of the Pride Flag with it becoming more inclusive every variation, but this one is my personal favourite because it's one of the more inclusive flags where all the colours are represented! Yes, there is an even more recent flag that showcases the intersex circle as part of the flag, however I prefer this one because the intersex colours (purple and yellow) are still included in this flag's colour scheme without making the flag more complicated.

The Pride Fritillary Choker Headband

Designed to be a choker, headband or hatband decoration, this super pretty V shaped Fritillary butterfly design, is tied elegantly with a satin ribbon. It comes accompanied with a metal toggle, which makes it easier to tie on or take off, but some occasions just call for a cute bow or ribbons braided through your hair. The bright pride gradients really show through this design, making for a bright and fun multi use accessory. The ribbons are secured to the canvas with 18kt gold plated metal clasps, bringing the whole design together. This design is a compilation of the full butterfly framed by scattered wings on either side, all parts of the critically endangered fritillary butterfly. The beautiful, super thin delicate black wing markings overlay the gorgeous pride flag colors blended into the wings. I hope these cute little studs, give you wings to fly your colors with PRIDE.

  • These CanvasArt Choker Headbands are Handmade with Love from Water Resistant Cotton Canvas, making them an awesome Eco-Friendly purchase. Each wing uses Archival Inks that are hand sealed and varnished with a 3 coat protection regime, which means that with proper care and storage, they can last as long as a 100year old artwork!

After the sealing process, I glue the canvas together with a sueded fabric that is then carefully hand cut into shape with scissors. The design is then hand edged with a little paintbrush, heat sealed, varnish sealed the 2nd and 3rd time, the holes are hand tooled into the canvas, the metal hardware is assembled, the ribbons cut and finally heat sealed.

Due to this handmade process, each product is unique and may have some minor differences from the image above.

Each butterfly canvas choker headband is 27cm (+27cmx2 of ribbon )
